What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?: How Company, HHC,Bravo Troop 1st Sqdn

Tell us a little about your cav days.: Had a great time as a Gate Guard, but serving in Bravo Troop was by far the best thing that ever happened to me, the leaders were fantastic and truley cared about us the soldier and that caused us to work hard to please our leaders.

Tell us a little about you now.: Retired from the Army in 1978 as a Command Sergeant Major, went on to complete my Assoc. degree in Real Estate and have been selling Real Estate since 1979.

I've got a pretty intensive project going right now I've been working on for over 6 years. I'm locating and recording all the enlistment records for the 2d Dragoons/2d Cavalry from 1836-1914. I'm up to 1869-70 now, done with the A's and well into the B's. I'm listing them both chronologically and alphabetically. 1775 pages and well over 1 million words typed so far, not counting the war casualties which I am keeping in a separate file.

As for arraigning the photos, it would be a great idea, but I don't even know if it's possible and I just haven't got the time.

I think the entire event goes like this: Me and another guy were drag racing in the motor pool one fine day when the officer in charge stepped out in front of us bringing the race to a halt. Later, the other driver and I were asked to report to HOW co. CO for disciplinary action. I told him not to worry about anything as I had been through such things before. As it turned out, during the proceedings, I fainted dead away. I never knew the results of that meeting, but you are correct, I was suddenly a member of "B" company for the duration of that enlistment. You know Paul, if anyone had ever advised me that those "company punishments" kept me from getting a Good Conduct medal, I might not have been such a foolish soldier. Robert

At 1:21am on January 8, 2013, Arthur D. Lovelace said…: May have been talking about different times. I was there from Feb. 1960 til Oct 1962. In the 2nd plt til I made Sgt then in 1st plt. Believe Sgt Jackson was my section leader in the early days. West and Glascoe and Krueger were all 2nd platoon. Good duty and good bunch of guys

And I was a scout section leader with Tom Chatburn being my driver. Tom was killed in Vietnam. Ran over a land mine. His name is on the Wall. Lt Wilmoth was the company CO. Good to hear from you.
