I received the sad news with a phone call from retired SGM Raymond Anderson, that CSM (Ret) Ned Devereaux our former First Sergeant at C Troop 1/2 ACR passed away on March 4, 2021.
TOP Ned was 81 years old. He was one of the best NCOs that I served with in 22 years. He served with the 1st and 3rd Squadrons 2d ACR and was a Vietnam combat wounded veteran with the 11th ACR, his last assignment was as Command Sergeant…

Former C Troop First Sergeant Ned Devereaux need any information (tales, stories, memories...) about a great NCO, the late 1SG (ret) Paul Garcia. Paul passed away back in 2004 and a tribute to be published in the Spring of 2014 will need as much information to honor a great C TROOP member.
Ned e-mail address: neddevereaux@comcast.net.

SGT Pabon! I remember when that name would sent fear into the hearts of commanders and ncos at camp GATES! Don't remember a lot of names, but this one I do. You and your border inspections were legendary. In fact, my first regimental inspection as a pvt in the ops room at Gates. Got moved to the SQDN ops center and wearing SGT stripes as an E-3. I know you won't remember me, but the most treasured commendation I received was from LTC Brinkley ( a job well done memo from his desk). Was from that inspection.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
