Mick walked into my office and said, "Lt you are sitting in my chair." I got up, saluted and he made me the support platoon leader until my ETS. I think he went on to be I Troop CO. Mick was a pilot and at that time they had to do tours on the ground. I think he earned a direct commission in RVN. He was a quiet honest man and kept to himself.

I ran into him again around 1992 or so. He was a Director at AAI corporation in Florida running a division. I was starting my Executive Search business and he gave me work that really helped me get started. We worked well together and he introduced me to other Exec's at AAI. AAI became a client of mine for the next 20 years.

I owe a lot to Mick. I lost touch with him but last knew him to be in "The Villages" in Florida.

I had to go on Dialisis for about six Months but I recovered from that. I am not on Dialisis any more. I now have renal cancer that has mastated to both of my lungs am doing fine even with that. I hope this finds you well and enjoying life.

We dream of times that lovers share

of a life we know and love to live.

A life of love with someone there,

Though my time was years later than yours, I suspect you and I were alot alike. 2nd Cav was my first assignment and I too had plans for college and no plans to re-enlist. I signed up for 3 years and that was what I was going to do, and that is what I did. I followed my plan and got out of the Army after those first 3 years. As fate would have it though, I realized shortly after I got out that I missed it all. One of those "don't know what you got til it's gone" moments. Plus, I realized I was pretty good at being a soldier. The final fateful nail in the coffin had to do with a girl I left behind in Germany. Long story short--I was out for a whopping 11 months before I showed back up at the recruiters office and said sign me up again. That girl and I were married, I was back in Germany again and I never looked back.
